“Are you time-worthy?”

Life is busy enough, but when you have kids it seems to only get busier. I’m sure most parents would agree that the days seem a lot shorter after kids, and yet you only feel more tired at the end of it. And the one thing you never seem to have enough time for is sleep.

I long for the days when I could go to sleep when I wanted to and wake up when I wanted.  Even on a good day, when the kids sleep in till 7am (yes, this is considered sleeping in), you never feel as rested when you are suddenly awoken by a child screaming or crying.  No longer can I just lie in bed and slowly wake myself up, instead we go from deep sleep to standing up and running in no time at all. It usually not until I’m feeding the kids breakfast that I slowly start to wake myself up.

So now, when Friday or Saturday night rolls around and I or my hubby and I are invited out with friends, my first thought is “Is this night out time worthy?” “Is the amount of fun I am going to have being out going to outweigh the lack of sleep I will get?” “Will I regret it in the morning?”

Usually after asking myself these questions I end up staying home. First thing you learn as a mom is that when you give up sleep, you never seem to make it up, EVER. When I was a little kid, I used to wonder why all the older women always wore so much make-up. I know now, that it’s to hide the bags under their eyes.
