If you have kids, then its safe to say how much it sucks to have sick kids. Aside from the coughing, snotty noses and fevers, you cant forget the whining and miserable attitude that comes with it.
As a parent, you also learn very fast that other people with kids avoid you like the plague when you have sick kids. Many parents on a good day will say things like “What’s a little bit of a runny nose or a slight cough matter? Their kids! They get sick, it builds up their immune systems!” Ya right, those are the parents, when asked to come over for a playdate, will be the first to decline because they don’t want their kids exposed to your snotty faced kid.
As a parent, you also know how stir crazy you get sitting at home with your sick little ones. So your faced with the decision to either stay home and wait it out, or just go out and risk contaminating the world. I would guess that there are quite a few parents that would go with option #2, for the sake of their sanity. You might find these parents at any given indoor playground or park, and when another parent notices that your little one doesn’t look so hot, these are the parents that play dumb and act like s/he was fine when they arrived.
Come on now, all parents lie a little bit whether or not they want to admit it. No one likes having the sick kids, cause then its like being the un-cool kid in the group. None of the other parents wants to play with you. And so, this is where I’m at. Grayer is sick, and he’s here for the weekend, and my ‘cool’ factor has dropped once again.
There’s gotta be a indoor gym around here somewhere…
